As I continue meeting residents across Ward 2 in East Gwillimbury, one topic comes up again and again: the urgent need for a local high school.

East Gwillimbury is growing rapidly, with more families choosing to call our community home every year. While residents appreciate our safe neighbourhoods, parks, and strong sense of community, many parents have shared concerns about the challenges their teenagers face due to the lack of a local high school.

Students often spend significant time commuting to neighbouring communities, which means longer days, less time for extracurricular activities, and fewer opportunities to participate in community events close to home. Parents have expressed that a local high school is essential to support the needs of our growing population and to strengthen the future of East Gwillimbury.
